I purchased an antimicrobial product, but I can't find the name of the product on your list of products registered for Influenza A (H1N1 virus or swine flu) on the Web site. How can I find out whether this product is approved for this use?
More than 500 antimicrobial products are registered by EPA specifically for use against influenza A virus. See http://www.epa.gov/oppad001/influenza-disinfectants.html .
You may not have found the product name on the list because an individual product may have several alternate brand names or be distributed by several companies, again with differing names. The list is arranged by EPA registration number because that is the most reliable way to identify a product. Even if there are several trade names, the EPA registration number will stay the same.
We will continue to update this list as more information becomes available. Approved products specifically have label nformation that states they provide effectiveness against “Influenza A virus.”
